We Will Rock You Audition Form

Further info is available on the Audition Material page

Galileo: (Male)
Playing age - to be able to play 20-35
Galileo Figaro is the protagonist of the musical. He is a young man with a rebellious spirit, constantly haunted by mysterious dreams and fragments of songs that he cannot fully understand.  Should be able to portray naivety and innocence, with a growing confidence throughout. He should have a natural presence that is able to command the stage. Looking for a neutral, soft accent. Please try to avoid American. Needs to be comfortable with basic choreography.  High rock voice with strong falsetto . No individual movement audition, however the candidate is expected to demonstrate a commanding presence through their rendition of the songs. We are looking for an acknowledgement, (but not imitation) of Freddie's stage bravado.

All cast  should be comfortable with basic choreography

Scaramouche (Female)
Playing age - to be able to play 20-35
Scaramouche is the female lead and love interest of Galileo. She is a sarcastic, sharp-witted outcast who, like Galileo, refuses to conform to society's norms. Together, they form a powerful duo, united by their desire for freedom and their love of rock music. Scaramouche can be cold and difficult, but needs to also have a vulnerability that makes the audience warm to her. She is charismatic and spirited and needs to have good comic timing to portray her dry, sarcastic tone.
Will need to learn to mime playing lead guitar to a believable standard. No individual movement audition, however the candidate is expected to demonstrate a commanding presence through their rendition of Somebody to Love

All cast  should be comfortable with basic choreography

Killer Queen
Playing age 20+
Killer Queen is the primary antagonist of the musical. She is the ruthless and power-hungry leader of the Globalsoft Corporation, which controls the world and suppresses all forms of creativity and individuality. Killer Queen is determined to eliminate the Bohemians (the rebels) and maintain her iron grip on society. She embodies the oppressive forces of conformity and corporate control. The role of Killer Queen requires a performer with a commanding stage presence and powerful vocals. Looking for a 'corporate' accent, showing that the character is educated, with no strong regional links.
All cast  should be comfortable with basic choreography

Brit (Male - Britney Spears):
Character:   Playing Age- to be able to play  25-40
Two of the Bohemians who are committed to expose the secrets of live music, and who believe that someone will come who will show the Bohemians the way. When they find Scaramouche and Galileo they are unsure at first but are eventually persuaded that Galileo does have strange musical lyrics in his head over which he has no control. When the Secret Police attack the Bohemian hide out, Brit is killed, and Oz is captured along with the other Bohemians.
All cast  should be comfortable with basic choreography

Oz (Female – Ozzy Osbourne):   Oz used to be called Meat in past productions
Character:
Playing Age- to be able to play  25-40
One of the two of the Bohemians   who are committed to expose the secrets of live music, as the description of Brit above. Looking for a neutral, soft accent.

If you also wish to be considered for the role of a TEEN QUEEN, please also prepare the harmony version of Somebody to Love

All cast  should be comfortable with basic choreography

Khashoggi(Male):
Character:  Playing age 25 +
He works for Killer Queen, going after the Bohemians to eradicate all original or creative musical thoughts from the iPlanet.
Dialogue (workshop and main audition):
Main Audition Singing: - Seven Seas of Rhye
All cast  should be comfortable with basic choreography

Buddy (Male):
Character:  Playing Age 25 +
Buddy is a librarian and a hippy who has studied the sacred musical texts to the extent that even Globalsoft cannot entirely erase them from his mind. He’s a comic character who acts as a foil to Galileo and Scaramouche.
Dialogue (workshop and main audition):
Main Audition Singing: These Are The Days Of Our Lives
All cast  should be comfortable with basic choreography

Teen Queen (Females) x 6
Playing Age 16 - 35
6 of the Ga-ga girls who make fun of Scaramouche go on to sing backing for ‘Somebody to Love.- Must be excellent harmony holders, and playing age must be young enough to fit into the idea of a young, bitchy clique!
It is strongly recommended you perform this alongside a principal audition as it is likely that anyone unsuccessful in achieving a Female principal role will then be considered for the role of a Teen Queen

All cast  should be comfortable with basic choreography

Gaga Clones / Bohemians and Non solo singing roles

Gaga Clones description - Playing age 16 - 35. The youth of today, look-a-likes  formed by the computer run Globalsoft, owned by the Killer Queen.   Should be very comfortable with basic choreography.

Bohemians description - Playing age 16 +. Eclectic group of rebel misfits  who have taken on the characters of past musical stars without really knowing who they were.
(e.g. Tina Turner, David Bowie, Elton John and Madonna, etc) .    All cast  should be comfortable with basic choreography

NON SOLO SINGING ROLES:
Teacher, Gagas, Electronic Voice and Bohemians.
If you would like to be in ‘pool’ for these small ensemble parts, you should audition! You could use using any of the parts above to put your name in the hat.  Please use Teacher script for any of these roles.
If you choose to do this, pick any one of the above songs (or even a verse or two) to show us your range.
These parts may not be cast until during the rehearsal process but, in the first instance, auditionees who achieved a good standard of audition but are unsuccessful in receiving a principal role will be considered for these roles.

All cast  should be comfortable with basic choreography
