About Us
We are an amateur musical theatre company that was set up in June 2010 in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands. We not only offer local people the opportunity of performing on stage, but we also provide our audiences with fantastic entertainment with every production. We perform one show annually, usually in August, and rehearse in the Dalneigh Scout Hall from April through to show week.
Our first production was "Stage 1" which was performed in the One Touch Theatre in Eden Court. Since then we have had the incredible opportunity of performing on the Empire Theatre Stage in Eden Court, which is one of the biggest professional theatre stages in Scotland. We have produced some incredible shows over the years, including "Jesus Christ Superstar", "West Side Story", "Oliver", "Annie", "Grease", "My Fair Lady", and "Shrek: The Musical".

The Producers
In 2012, Peter Kelly was asked to join and c0-manage Starlight and he has remained with the company ever since. Peter and his wife Shirley are now the sole owners of Starlight Musical Theatre.
Peter began his musical career as a member of his family singing troupe. He studied at the RSAMD in Glasgow and then the RCM Opera School in London, before working professionally for a time in London's West End in shows such as "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "The Mikado". Peter then ventured into television and appeared in "Stars in their Eyes", and various TV Hogmanay shows in Scotland and Ireland. Along with this, Peter also performed in many professional pantomimes, oratorios and concerts. |
On his return to Scotland, Peter worked for 26 years with 'Scottish Showtime' and during this time, Peter met his wife Shirley - an accomplished Highland, ballet and tap dancer. Shirley is no stranger to the stage either, having played the role of Clara for the Scottish Ballet's production of "The Nutcracker" at the age of 10 and also performing in many of Eden Court Theatre's pantomimes over the years. Shirley has been by Peter's side throughout his time with Starlight Musical Theatre and although her role has mainly included backstage and wardrobe, she will turn her hand to anything to help make each show a success.

Peter and Shirley strongly believe in bringing new and young talent to the fore in a commitment to cement the future of musical theatre, whether that be amateur or professional. They look forward to being part of many successful shows ahead with Starlight and maintaining a close working relationship with Eden Court Theatre to help establish the stars of tomorrow.
Peter says: "When you see a new face shining on the stage, a voice to die for, or a dancer who takes your breathe away, the emotion swells and makes it all worthwhile!"
